Make Father's Day Delightful

One part love, another part fatherly wisdom, add a sprinkling of corny jokes and you have the basic formula for a dad. The equation may be straightforward, but don’t take that to imply simplicity, because as many of us know, raising a child takes a lot of work!

Father’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate fatherhood and  to show the men who raised us how much we appreciate and love them, because despite their responsibilities and hectic schedules, they have always given their time, love, and support to us.

So what can we do to show the dads of the world how much they mean to us? With every passing year, Father’s Day arrives with the annual panic of trying to find a last minute gift that we desperately hope doesn’t look like a last minute gift.

Thus, instead of a goofy tie, why not indulge your dad’s sweet tooth? Apart from the Chocolate Caramel Decadence – a luscious chocolate fudge cake filled with gooey caramel – Goldilocks Bakeshop also offers a range of gifts that will give any father a perfect end to a work-filled day. Exquisitely delicious, affordable, and true to the Pinoy spirit, there’s truly no better way to fill your dad’s heart with joy.

It is said that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and the country’s best-loved bakeshop certainly abides by this. Indeed, Goldilocks gifts are a scrumptious way to celebrate a special day. Order one now and put a smile on your father’s face.

KoCos Restaurant

KoCos is a new restaurant along E. Rodriguez Avenue that offers Mexican–Korean inspired dishes. The place is a good find for those looking for a place to chill out and those looking for a culinary adventure.

A flat screen shows KPOP videos and karaoke tracks for guests to enjoy. And KoCos has a good line up of booze and cocktails to complement the food they offer.

Most of their food are loaded with vegetables and spices. Kimchi lovers will surely identify with KoCos. Where else will you find Kimchi Pasta, Kimchi Pizza, Caramelized Kimchi Quesadilla (P 210), all loaded with slightly spicy kimchi?

I've skipped kimchi fares (that I'm not a fan of) and common foods in favor of more meaty dishes. Here are my favorites at KoCos:

Their Nachos (P 250) is a huge bowl with a good mix of texture and flavor that is so Mexican in taste.

Jap chae (P 229) is a savory, sweet Korean pasta. Fresh vegetables are mixed with the traditional clear potato starch noodles and beef strips.

I love their take on Korean fried chicken. Their version of this street food favorite is crispy, delicious and topped with equally crunchy shoestring potatoes. The KoCos Fried Chicken (P 160) or “KFC" is spicy and tangy. It is double-fried, resulting in crunchier and less greasy skin.

I like their bibimbap-style Beef Stew (P 240) the most. This bestselling rice meal is topped with a hefty serving of KoCos signature tender Korean beef.

We were also served complimentary KoCos SurFries (P 100), KoCos Balls (P 150), and Burger Slides (P 229) and Seafood Arroz ala Koreana (Huge Paella platter at P 749) during the food review. I think that KoCos has a lot of potential given it has been in business for less than 3 months.

Hair Removal made Sweeter at Whipped Sugar Wax & Body Scrub Salon

The removal of unwanted body hair has a long history. Both men and women have been obsessed with removing body hair since the dawn of time. We’ve been  plucking, burning, tweezing and ripping out undesirable hair in our the timeless desire to be trendy without realizing that many of these beauty regimens do more harm than good. Some commercially-available products do contain toxic and harsh chemicals.

Now, Whipped Sugar Wax and Body Scrub Salon offers Sugar Wax or Sugaring as a safe alternative to remove unwanted hair.  This  old, tried Arabic beauty regimen is the true way to wax naturally. People have been using sugar wax to remove hair  in the Middle East for centuries since sugar is a good skin softener and exfoliator made out of natural ingredients that does not threaten the body. Whipped uses organic wax made from sugar and lemon.

Whipped Sugaring Review

My daughter and I lifestyle bloggers went to experience Whipped Sugar Wax and Body Scrub Salon services at the Alabang Town Center. It was a first for both of us to undergo sugaring. Danica went in for eyebrows (P 200) and underarms treatment (P 250) while I opted for full leg sugar waxing (P 650).

The staff were courteous. They ushered us to two adjacent rooms as soon as we came in.  They were kind enough to indulge my kid in a conversation to make her feel more relaxed and less tense since it was her first time to undergo sugaring.  The waxer assigned to my daughter regularly asks Danica if she is comfortable as she went on shaping her eyebrows.

There is no doubt that the waxer has a clear understanding of the body needed to properly remove hair. They were properly trained to do sugaring.

Whipped has sterilizers and the waxers puts blue gloves on for hygienic purposes and client's peace of mind..

Sugar wax looks like toffee, and comes in amber color at room temperature.  The waxer tears a small portion of the cold, sticky, elastic wax  and stretches it onto the skin area  to remove hair.   There is less of a pull on the skin with the precision, plus a more comfortable removal experience.  The sugar wax only removes the hair from its roots unlike regular hot wax, which can take off the top layer of skin along with the hair.  There is no risk of scalding with this cold wax method.

Sugaring the eyebrows is a bit painful than the underarms according to my daughter. It  lasted  for  a few seconds, and then she got used to the sensation. I can say that the same is true for my leg waxing.  I have a few fine hair strands on my legs and it did hurt a bit a first few times as the waxer stretches the sugar  onto the area, and then rips it off repeatedly in quick, hygienic and thorough waxing service.

After finishing my whole lower left leg, she moved onto my left. My limbs came out hairless and smooth in a few minutes.

The staff says there really isn't much difference between waxing men and women. There are men going in for chest, shoulder, back, butt and even bikini waxing. Some brave men do  get Brazilian waxes too.  Since most guys have coarser hair,  waxing them tends to take longer.  Regular visits in  waxing salons will help improve lessen the hair growth.

The sweetness of this sugar waxing undeniable. It is great for sexy legs. So try it for yourself!

Whipped waxing specialists ensure maximum comfort that make the whole experience almost relaxing. Go visit Whipped Sugar Wax & Body Scrub Salon soon for that soft, smooth long lasting results.

Living well is a shared dream in the world and Global Wellness Day recognizes this dream and has been a leading voice in this healthy living revolution!

Now on its 5th year, the Global Wellness Day movement is celebrated internationally in 83 countries with 86 ambassadors in over 400 participating locations.

I joined in the worldwide celebration of Global Wellness Day at FTX Fitness Exchange, in Salcedo Village, Makati City last June 11 along with my blogger friends.

Global Wellness Day seeks to direct the thoughts of individuals and society towards “living well” and to raise awareness.

Global Wellness Day celebrations are held in order to help people:

1.  Recognize the value of our lives
2.  To pause and think, even if for just one day of the year
3.  To be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits
4.  To make peace with ourselves
5.  To raise awareness about living well and increase motivation, not justfor today, but for 365 days a year.

Global Wellness Day promotes  seven simple steps to jumpstart a wholistic, healthy lifestyle. Global Wellness Day Philippines Ambassadress, Vikki Aquino, talked about getting us a step closer towards livingwell, using the GWD manifesto as the starting point.

In  honor of the Global Wellness Day, FTX Fitness Exchange held yoga, zumba plus learning activities for free.

Charmie De Leon of Healthway and  political satirist/ director/actress Mae Paner aka "Juana Change" gave inspiring talks. Christian Church pastor Manu Reyes aka the “Fitness Pastor”, fitness brand ambassador and consultant for corporate fitness solutions discussed how a good deed daily keeps you healthy.

Complimentary consultations are available on weight loss/gain, skin analysis, muscle imbalance, fitness assessment and health provider were made available to the public and guests the whole morning. Healthway also hosted free Postural Alignment analysis.

Do join in the National Wellness Day  celebration this June 27, 2016 at Alabang Town Center.  GWD Philippines is also holding the annual National Wellness Day festivities of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) on June 30 at the Mall of Asia, where member companies will exhibit and showcase their corporate wellness efforts. Various wellness speakers, health tests, and fitness classes for the general public will be available for people to enjoy.
