The Nest at Vivere Alabang

Located at the topmost floor of Vivere Hotel is a restaurant that lets you indulge in a fusion of Asian, European and American flavors. The Nest can actually be super romantic for dates plus an ideal place for casual family dinners, business meetings, and intimate celebrations.

It has two function rooms which can fit up to 50 people, and an al fresco setup (where the 2 bars are situated), which gives a mesmerizing view of the Muntinlupa skyline.

And now for their food offering---

Crispy Catfish Salad is a delightful green mango salad topped with crispy fried flaked catfish meat, onions, peanuts and cilantro leaves. I'm not really into catfish but I found this dish quite good and savory. The catfish meat isn't overpowering. It mixes well into the salad adding more crunchy texture.

Greek Goddess Salad comes caramelized walnuts, Parmesan cheese on mixed salad greens with Arugula and tossed-in Strawberry vinaigrette. It is served with slices of grilled chicken on top.

Main Dish

We had the Bistecca steak (400-gram Meltique slab of boneless ribeye), Grill Platter, Crispy Pork Binagoongan (Crispy pork with Okra, Tomatoes, Sour Mango and Bagoong), plus Gambas and Chorizo Pasta. Bistecca comes with mashed potatoes and cauliflower side dish. They also serve it with your choice of Creamy mushroom and Peppercorn Demiglace Sauce or Gongonzola Sauce.

Ribeye steak was prepared medium rare, much to my liking. I had Sangria at this point and I found it as a perfect complement to my ribeye fix!

The deconstructed Crispy Pork Binagoongan was my favorite dish that night. Their inhouse spicy-sweet bagoong was a perfect match to Crispy Pork Belly! While the meat appeared crispy on the outside, it was tender and soft inside.

The Grill Platter was a sampler of stuffed squid, pork belly, blue marlin and chicken breast. I ate squid portions of the dish most.

Their desserts were good. We were served Salted Caramel Brownie with Bacon Ice Cream (fudge brownies with homemade ice creaam infused with bacon bits), Frozen Brazo (their take on Brazo de Mercedes), and Mango Creme Brulee (flan with mango balls topped with crisp caramelized sugar). This was my favorite among the three. The fudge brownie slice was big enough for sharing. I love how the bacon ice cream further enhances its flavor.

In the Frozen Brazo, mantecado ice cream replaces the custard part. I love this harmonious blend of fluffy meringue, graham crust, mantecado (vanilla butter), and flavored ice cream.

Do dine in style at The Nest. Revel in their five-star ambiance and great food selection. They have a live band to entertain and make your dining experience even more memorable.

Sweet Dreams with Elica

Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis is an itchy inflammation of your skin. This chronic condition may affect any area of your skin and is characterized by red, dry, itchy rashes. It tends to flare periodically with intense itch and then the inflammation subsides.

The exact causes of eczema are unknown and is more common in children than in adults. Children experience the discomfort of itching, especially at night and causes children to lose sleep. The severe itching caused by eczema leaves a huge negative impact on a kid’s life, like sleep deprivation and irritability.

Such is the case for celebrity mom Cheska Garcia-Kramer and her daughter Scarlett. According to Cheska, Scarlett used to cry at night because of her itchy rashes. But after their doctor recommended mometasone furoate or Elica, a topical steroid from Bayer Philippines, both mom and child saw results within 24 hours. The peaceful rests returned and since then, both mother and daughter have had sweet dreams.

Cheska shared her daughter’s itch story in the “Sweet Dreams with Mometasone furoate (Elica)” launch on August 19, 2015 at Ascott, Bonifacio Global City, where both she and Scarlett were revealed as the newest celebrity endorsers for Elica. “Scar couldn’t sleep talaga when she gets eczema flare-ups kasi it’s so itchy and she keeps on scratching,” Cheska said. During the event, the causes of Eczema and how it could negatively impact children were discussed.

Eczema flare-ups can be triggered by several factors, including dust mites, family pets, heat or harsh soaps. There are many triggers of eczema that can make it get worse. Learning what triggers your child's eczema to flare, can help in clearing the condition. Avoiding what irritants make eczema symptoms worse will help in controlling it.

Flare-ups may require more than just moisturizers and in such instances, a fast and powerful treatment is needed. Elica, a topical steroid, is considered to be the first line of defense for eczema. It can help relieve eczema symptoms with visible results in 24 hours, and needs only to be applied once daily, unlike most topical steroids that are applied twice a day. Moreover, clinical studies have demonstrated Elica’s efficacy and safety profile. Elica has also been recommended and prescribed by doctors for many years.

When Eczema strikes, use the effective treatment of Elica and see results in 24 hours, so that both kids and moms can sleep tight.

“Our pediatrician recommended Elica and it really helped relieve Scarlett of the itch, redness and swelling because of her eczema,” Cheska said.

Eczema can affect not only the sufferer, but also the whole family. Using Elica to control the condition can help improve the patient’s and the family’s quality of life.

Elica comes in cream and ointment. This over-the-counter medication can be purchased without a doctor’s presciption. For more information on Elica, go to or visit

Repertory Philippines brings yet another masterpiece to life this August--–the classic story of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. And Repertory Philippines' version of Michael Valenti and Elsa Rael’s adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is more than just a simple retelling of Snow White. It features an enthralling fusion of live music with mesmerizing choreography and classical ballet unfolding right before your very eyes.

Joy Virata, director of the play, highlights the experience the play will bring to kids and kids at heart who will watch the fairy tale live for the first time. “The story is of course the same as that of the Disney Version but the songs and dialogue and the way it’s staged and choreographed is different. And it’s live. Kids like to be entertained. Those who will see it for the first time are always enthralled by seeing something that’s live. Theater is live entertainment,” she shares.

Featuring the story of a girl who was trapped with her stepmother, the Evil Queen, who was jealous of her beauty. When the Evil Queen orders the Woodsman to kill Snow White, the latter White finds refuge through the help of the Seven Dwarfs---Scrubber, Blubber, Scotty, Flubber, Pepito, Mosquito, and Fred. Her story is a montage of the many experiences a person can have in a lifetime --- cruelty to an innocent, loss of home and family, security in newfound friends, and the triumph of good over wicked. “Snow White’s story shows that you can appeal to the good in everyone. You can infect people by being good,” Virata says.

The stage play features Christine Flores, Alana Vicente, Becca Coates, and Dani Prieto (understudy) as Snow White; Bituin Escalante, Ring Antonio, and Christine Flores (understudy) as the queen; and Hans Eckstein, Jos Jalbuena, and Jef Flores as the Prince/Woodsman.
