Flavorful meals at Soi Thai

Spiciness and vibrant tastes are distinguishing characteristics that make authentic Thai cuisine  incredibly special.  At Soi, we were treated to flavorful Thai meals.

It blends sweet, spicy, salty, and sour flavors.  It uses garlic, ginger, lemongrass, and chili to tickle taste buds.  Soi Thai mixes  mix strong flavors to create winning recipes.

We were served Thai meals as soon as we were seated to enjoy  combinations of different tastes.

The Thai Spring Roll is rice glass noodles mixed juliened carrots, shredded cabbage, cilantro and bean sprouts. The roll comes in sliced, bite pieces with peanut and hoisin sauce (P 168) on the side.

Green Curry Fried Rice with Fish Fillet (P 188) is a hefty serving of breaded fish fillets over a seasoned cup of rice.

Crispy Catfish Flakes with Mango Salad (P 258) is a quick salad appetizer that combines of a nest of crispy fish meat and shredded fresh green mango.

Sukothai is another well-executed dish. The flavorful soup combines Sukhothai-style rice noodles with slices of roast pork. I love its sweet pork-based broth, that has a hint of lemon grass, tamarind and coconut milk. I wish that it has more heat though.

Tom Yam Talei (P 348) is a soup with noodles , meat balls , asado meat, tofu, mung bean sprouts, plus coriander leaves.

Soi Thai's take on the Pad Thai noodles is beautiful. It has that web-like topping made from egg and batter mixture and comes in 3 variants. You may choose from -Shrimp (P 298) , Chicken (P 248) and Tofu (P 198).

We also tried their Pork Satay and Chicken Satay that comes with dipping sauces.

Bagoong Fried Rice (P 198) had salted duck egg, sliced cucumber, pork, shrimp paste, sliced mangoes, chopped string beans, sliced onion, dried shrimp, scrambled egg and chopped chilies. The ingredients are supposed to be mixed into the rice to create a wonderful dish.

The do-it-yourself Thai halo-halo (P 138) includes water chestnuts, mung beans, jackfruit and syrup to taste. It is a refreshing way to end a great meal.

Soi Thai treats you to layers of texture and flavor in the best possible way.
The restaurant is on its 10th year and currently located in 5 strategic areas. Visit one soon.

The new OPPO F3 Plus positions itself as Groupie Expert

Selfies will never be the same now with the whole gang in the picture!

Mobile technology brand OPPO is hoping to expand its reach with the launch new F3 series last March 23, 2017.

Oppo has outfitted its F3 Plus phone with dual front cameras. The Front camera of F3 plus is 16MP + 8MP Dual camera with Screen Flash and Rear camera is 16-Megapixels with f/1.7 + PDAF + OIS + LED flash. The primary camera features geo-tagging , 1/2.8″ sensor size, touch focus, face detection, HDR & panorama and it takes amazing photos with high quality.

The secondary front camera serves a practical purpose other than depth-of-field tricks. Oppo F3 Plus is the first-ever smartphone with a wide-angle dual front camera that easily accommodate ‘groufies’ in a single shot. Its 8-megapixel sensor and lens offer a much wider field of view to help you cram more people into a frame for group selfies.

“Since OPPO started the Selfie Revolution in the Philippines with the F1 Series, we’ve gone through incredible growth especially when we became the country’s second bestselling smartphone in 2016,” OPPO Philippines Brand Marketing Manager Stephen Cheng said. “We are very excited to see the F3 Plus start a new trend in groufies and reinforce our position as the Selfie Expert.”

“The F3 Plus was developed for both selfie lovers and photography buffs who want a smartphone that lets them take stunning shots wherever they are, no matter the time of day. Our newest camera phone packs state-of-the-art hardware and software in a sleek body to deliver outstanding performance and style, perfect for the urban lifestyle,” Cheng added.

Effortless from selfie to groufie

Set to be the ultimate Selfie Expert, the F3 Plus builds upon the technology of the earlier OPPO F1s to deliver outstanding selfie photography. The new smartphone sports a similar 16-megapixel (MP) selfie camera with a 1/3-inch sensor for clear image results even in low light, as well as an f/2.0 aperture for depth-of-field aesthetic.

The difference lies in the additional secondary camera. This 8MP groufie-camera has a wide 120-degree angle—105 percent larger than the regular 80-degree lens field of view— which allows more people to fit inside the frame. The wide-angle shot is also complemented by a 6P lens to minimize distortion.

Internal Memory is 64GB with extra slot of 256GB + OTG support. it runs on latest operating system Android 6.0 (marshmallow) with OPPO OS colorOS 3.0. Battery life is good 3600mAh with fast charging support.

Ease of use has been carefully designed into the front camera’s functionality to reflect OPPO’s “user-oriented” philosophy. The built-in Smart Facial Recognition, for instance, notifies users to switch to “Groufie” mode when more than three people are detected. This makes the switch from selfie to groufie effortless while keeping image quality stable.

The new smartphone still comes with the brand’s pioneering image editing software, Beautify 4.0, which offers a range of beautification modes for a flawless look in every selfies and groufies.

Built for professional photography

Significant improvements have also been made for the rear-facing camera. Co-developed by Sony, the 16MP back camera is now powered by a customized 1/2.8-inch IMX398 sensor for fast focusing speed, outstanding noise reduction, and advanced low-light performance—ideal for serious photography.

The new phone will be out in Philippine stores this April 1 at the suggested retail price of P23,990. Pre-orders, along with a free Bluetooth headset and a selfie stick, will be available in all OPPO concept stores and selected dealer stores nationwide as well as at the brand’s official online shop in Lazada from March 24 to 31.

Sigsaga Yakiniku Buffet

Sigsaga directly translates to mean "superb". The owners took on the name when they decided to put up a yakiniku buffet restaurant.

Barely on its 3rd month, Sigsaga Yakiniku Buffet has opened its second branch along BFRV Drive to cater to its growing clientelle.

Partners Joy and Rod saw the need to put up a much bigger restaurant after they opened the first one in December last year. While a full dining area seats around 80 people on the ground level, the mezzanine floor provides 20 additional seats for those in company. It is a good spot for small private parties.

Sigsaga offers unlimited beef / pork Yakiniku with bottomless red iced tea for only P299.

In Korea, Yakiniku is referred to as samgyupsal (pork belly), or chadolbaegi (beef). The grilled meat is wrapped in lettuce leaves with kimchi and gireumjang (salt and black pepper in sesame oil) or samjang (soybean-chili paste) in the Korean style.
Now, Sigsaga Yakiniku Buffet boasts an array of delightful Korean and Japanese  favorites to complement your grilled meat. Traditional Korean cuisine on rotation at Sigsaga buffet extends well beyond kimchi.

Guests will like the Korean style Bul-dak. Literally translated as "fire chicken," bul-dak is hot and spicy chicken. Apart from this, there is also Jap-chae, Tang-su-yuk (sweet and sour pork), Spicy Soft Tofu stew, Bulgogi, and more.

For those who have a craving for seafood, I recomnend Ebi Tempura. For P129, you get 6 pieces served with with refillable drinks as well. Having this for a light meal would be simply awesome!

They also offer shabu-shabu set for only P299. I'd say it is a a steal for great food. Dine in at Sigsaga soon!

Payday Buffet at Terraz Bistro

Are you in search of a good location for meetings and meals in Makati?  Then Terraz Bistro and Meetings is the best place to go.  Located at the third floor of the plush  Zuellig Building, the elegant restaurant has lovely, spacious dining areas plus private rooms for meetings and corporate lunch outs.

Its 117-seater bistro is a perfect set up for social events. There is also an outdoor seating area set among the building's garden for a relaxing al fresco dining experience.

Terraz Bistro offers  Filipino, Asian and European Cuisine.  Its open kitchen showcases Executive Chef Arnold Gozon and his team's culinary expertise.  Terraz will take on a culinary journey that evokes familiar tastes and aromas. It is another restaurant under Raintree's roster that crafts well-executed dishes.

I came in on the last day of February to try out their dinner buffet.  And I was in luck, they actually have a buffet promo for paydays priced at  P 499 (exclusive of service charge).  Twice  in a month, you get to enjoy their lunch or dinner buffet without breaking the bank.

The acoustic band started serenading guests at 7PM as I started off with appetizers.  I had Crispy Chicken Skin, Kwek-Kwek and Bopis.

The Bopis is made of pig's lungs and heart, cooked with tomatoes, onions, and chilies. It the best I've tasted in town. It had the right mix of spiciness and sourness. Everything was just right with all the flavors coming to life.

Aside from Bopis, I also enjoyed Beef Stew, Honey Glazed Chicken Wings, plus Roasted Pumpkin with Sausage and Bacon.  I highly recommend you indulge in these.  Next, I had Grilled Asparagus and Artichoke Salad, Salmon Hot Pot, Sun-dried Tomato Basil with Feta Cheese Pasta,

Terraz's take on Paella is a revelation. This  well-executed dish seafood paella looks stunning with tiger shrimps, squids, and mussels. It was moist and flavorsome!

Their buffet includes Maki sushi, vegetable rolls and california rolls. Their salad station shines the spotlight on garden-fresh veggies, and cold pasta dishes which you may combine with your choice of drizzled dressings. They also have Coffee Jelly, fruits, plus a handful of "kakanin" to satisfy your sweet cravings.

The Payday Buffet of Terraz Meetings and Bistro's wide variety of dishes allows you to have more of your food favorites. Since large groups and families prefer buffets these days, their dishes in the medium spread buffet line up works out great for you.

Their menu line up choices varies every payday and get you acquainted to new ones. It is held only every 15th and 30th of every month. Should these days fall on a weekend or non-working holiday, then it is made available the succeeding workday for either lunch or dinner at P 499 ++ per head.
