Soban K-Town Grill

If you have been following my blog for sometime now, you would know that I love Korean cuisine. So when I got invited by Zomato to check out the Soban K-Town Grill place at the new ATC expansion, I agreed at once.

Soban K-Town Grill is a modern Korean grill place. It has simple interiors following the monocromatic theme. Four-seater square tables equipped with grillers at the center line-up the place. Thrre are fume extractor tubes installed directly above the round cooktop to remove odors, heat and steam that develops during grilling. It functions as an exhaust plume that sucks out the smoke and stops it from hitting you in the face, making your grilling experience slightly more comfortable.

We got to try the PREMIUM BBQ COMBO SET (P 2200) which is good for 3-4 pax. The set allows one to choose 2 flavors of samgyupsal (pork belly) from Original, Fruity, Chili Bean, Soy Garlic, Wine, and Doenjang. Samgyupsal are classic unmarinated pork belly slices with dipping sauce served on the side.  Soban puts the spotlight on the  the meat  that is cooked table-side, right in front of your face.  They have card boards  with detailed instructions on how to cook the meat cuts placed  on top of each table.  We asked the server to do it for us.    Once cooked,  the server cut it   into bite-size pieces.

I love wrapping the unmarinared  grilled meat  in lettuce leaves with kimchi and gireumjang (salt and black pepper in sesame oil) .

Their bestseller is the Fruity Samgyupsal made with natural sweetness of fresh fruits. Soy Garlic Samgyupsal is somewhat similar to the Filipino BBQ we're all accustomed to.

We started with non-marinated cuts first, then moved on to their marinated ones. And the marinades really make a difference! Boldly- flavored marinades add savory depth to the grilled meat.

There are many kinds of geotjeori (fresh salads) in Korean cuisine that goes well with it. It puts anyone in the mood for a quick and healthy dinner. Any reluctant child will love eating his meat strips together with crisp, cool leaf vegetable like lettuce.

Each set is  served with unlimited kimchi fried rice, soup, and set of 6 side dishes, which the server assembled at our table in small plates. Banchan (share plates) choices include Kimchi, Gyeran Mari, Pamuchim, Gamja Sarada (Korean- Style Mashed Potato Salad), Sangchoo Bokkeum, Meolchi Bokkeum (Dried Anchovies), Sangchoo, and Kimchi Fried Rice (which can  be changed to plain rice upon request).  The sides are  refillable.

We were also served these dishes to complement our meal:

180g Dak Ganjeong  (Caramelized Boneless Fried Chicken) was flavorful.  The chicken meat was moist and tender under its sweet batter.

Pajeon (Traditional Korean Seafood Pancake) came in cut into small squares and with a dipping sauce.

Japchae  (Stir-fried Korean Vermicelli Noodles) is a  semi-sweet dish that I really like.  It is made from  sweet potato-based noodles, beef and vegetables.

Gimbap  (Korean Seaweed Rice Roll) is similar to a sushi with julienned carrots and cucumber. The didifferenclies in the fact that it is seasoned with sesame oil instead of vinegar.

Gyeranjim (Egg Casserole) is similar to quiche. It is savory custard with cheese mixed in.

Kimchi Fries tasted really good, with just the right amount of Kimchi flavor mixed with cheese.

They have Jinro Chamisul Fresh (360 ml) and other Korean lagers to offer. Non-alcoholic beverages options include Green Iced Tea, Lemonade, Soban Iced Tea, Ripe Mango Shake, Lychee Shake, and Mango Banana Shake.

We had Coffee Prince to cap our meal. It is  homemade Coffee Ice Cream on a bed of soft graham and Korean red beans.

If you are a   big fan  of samgyupsals and grilling,   Soban is worth the try!
With  unlimited sides, rice, and soup, what more can you ask for?

 IG: @wingstopph

The restaurant offers their signature fried buffalo chicken wings marinated in different spices and sauces. Buffalo wings are pure, unadulterated, crispy, greasy, food delicacies that we all love. At WingStop, these crunchy seasoned fried chicken wings take a dip in classic and outlandish buffalo sauces.

Perfectly fried chicken wings were are coated in sweet, hot and spicy blends---Spicy Soy, Mango Habanero, Cajun, Hot Buffalo, Mild Buffalo, Honey BBQ, Honey Garlic, Garlic Parmesan, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Louisiana Rub, Korean Soy, and Teriyaki. I like those in Honey Garlic, Teriyaki, and Korean Soy flavors.

If you are looking for a healthier alternatives, they have Boneless bites (8 pcs 2 flavors P 179; 15 pcs 3 flavors P 319) and skinless chicken breast tenders (3 pcs 1 dip P 199; 5 pcs 2 dips P 329). For dips, WingStop has ranch, bleu cheese, honey mustard, bbq, atomic and ccheese. They use these same mixtures as dipping sauces for french fries and sides (Onion Rings and Nachos).

We also tried their flavored fries such as Louisiana Rub, Cajun, Garlic Parmesan that costs (P 99 for regular; P 119 for large). The Texas-Style fries are cheaper at P 79 for regular and P 99 large servings. Cheesy Salsa fries is priced P 149. Their Coleslaw is also good.

They also have Batter-Fried Fish Sandwich (Ala-carte P 159, Meal P 199) that is perfect for the Lent season.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
IG: @cbtlph

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is a well-known Specialty Coffee shop, where you can grab coffee, non-caffeinated beverages, teas, drinks and pair it with their yummy cakes. Must try cakes are Lemon Pistachio, Mocha Cake and Triple Decker Cheesecake. I like the Triple Decker Cheesecake among the three. They have some absolutely fantastic cakes that look too good to be eaten.

Classic Confections

Classic Confections  are actually the ones behind CBTL cakes. We tried their Sylvia's Strawberry Shortcake and Nono's Chocolate Oblivion. I love the fluffy strawberry shortcake. It is moist, not too sweet and I love that has real strawberries inside. I can taste its premium ingredients that truly equals its good taste. Nono's Chocolate Oblivion was really sweet and chocolatey on the other hand. When I sink my teeth into a slice, my taste buds register nothing but sugary bliss. Classic Confections highlights gourmet flavors are in something as small as a cake slice.

Since the world is still freaking about the Beauty and the Beast movie, Classic Confections had gorgeously decorated cookie treats for any diehard Beauty and the Beast fan. They have iced cookies that are decorated to look like all your favorite characters from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."

Cafe Arabelle
 IG: @cafearabellenuvali

Cafe Arabelle opened in   December 2016, offering   Italian Cuisine,  Western and Spanish fares. They served us Arabelle's BBQ Ribs (P 740),    Seafood Marinara (P 335), Arabelle's Creamy Mushroom Pasta (P 400) which I highly recommend.  I find Cafe Arabelle particularly strong in pasta and meat dishes. Other dishes given to us were  Arabelle's Special Salad (P 270), Grilled Bacon Pancetta P275, and Buffalo Pizza (P 520).

The PigPen
IG: pigpenph

The Pig Pen is a casual diner and bar that offers Asian and Europian fusion. They offer breakfast and a good variety of locally-sourced drinks and beers on top of imported ones. For the food, I first indulged in the salad. The European Salad was full of lettuce, pickled radish, fresh purple petals, sliced black olives, julienned carrots, dried berries and nuts. The salad was great!

Next, I tried the Papa Dom's Nachos . I had Kimchi Pork Belly (P 350) as well. It was great tasting pork meat cutlets with kimchi sauce. Beef Shank Mushroom and Bone Marrow (P 420) was something extraordinary! Double thumbs up for this dish. It combines the rich flavor of the bone marrow and the prime beef cut. It was like sinking my teeth into a premium cornbeef brand.

Grilled Tamarind Chicken (P 380) was cooked perfectly. The chicken skewers were so succulent that you can really taste how good the meat used was. I recommend that you visit this restaurant when you are in Nuvali.

That's all folks.  Watch out for my next food reviews and foodie adventures.

Third Eye is your 360-degree go-to Wellness Center

Last March 20, I was introduced to  The Third Eye Wellness Center.  I learned  that it  is the go-to wellbeing center for those looking out for non-conventional healing modalities like ThetaHealing®.

Sanaiyah Gurnamal founded the Third Eye Wellness Center in Dubai and brought it to the Philippines. Sanaiyah holds a Master’s Degree in ThetaHealing® technique which was designed by Vianna Stibal after she healed herself from cancer.  The Third Eye Wellness Center promotes  wellness through mind and body integration, self-development, health and nutrition.

How ThetaHealing® Works

It works on the premise that since everything around us is energy, the physical condition will clear out by releasing the negative emotions. Thoughts affect our emotions (fear, anger, sadness, and guilt). These emotions accumulate over time and affect our energies eventually resulting in energy blocks that cause stress, emotional pain, disease in the body, spiritual issues and challenges.

It treats the whole person by clearing out emotions that manifest in a problem.  It works on emotions to heal the diseases by utilizing the Theta brain wave.

ThetaHealing® helps rebalances your energy field and removes energy blocks from current and past traumas, diseases and accidents.

What happens in a ThetaHealing® session

To begin the  therapy session, the practitioner discusses with the client what concern or issue he would like help on. This  gives the practitioner a starting point.

The Theta Healer asks for permission each time to facilitate the healing of the client. The client goes through a deep meditative state that generates theta brain waves.

The Theta Healing practitioner then scans the client's energy field and body to sense what is going on and to bring out the beliefs from the sub-conscious mind to the surface, after the client you gives his permission. Scanning aids in finding the root cause why a person may be holds onto a condition, or life situation. The practitioner then utilizes the Theta brain waves to facilitate the healing process.

Dine in at the Chakra Cafe. Give your body a healthy boost from the healthy food and drink options offered at the cafe.

Load up on booster juice concoctions they offer. With it, you get the same vitamins, minerals and nutrients as you would in a drink made from fresh fruits and veggies. These smoothies are delicious juice options for an overall health boost.

Immerse yourself in self-help books. Choose from those which focus on Spiritual Healing, Astrology, and Divination.

Enjoy their pampering treats at the Transcend Spa and Nails.
I had reflexology coupled with a back massage.

Get a tarot card reading. A tarot  reader can be help you in understand why certain things do not go the way you expect it. He may be able to shed light on a few things not working well in your life.

Overall, I enjoyed the talk, the healing session, the food and the massage treatment.

Visit the Third Eye Wellness Center to ease your mind and body. It is a haven for health and wellness.
