“If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”
Quality transportation infrastructure is what I will give to the Philippines. The transportation system in the country really needs improvement. Addressing this need is our key to nation building and international competitiveness.

Apart from power plants and communication system, a quality transportation infrastructure is what the Philippines require to enhance trade and to be able to connect to international markets. Not only will infrastructure networks reduce the effect of distance, it would also help integrate national markets. The production and distribution of goods relies on transport. And adequate infrastructure is a vital element for transport systems.

Though the population is largely urban, there are  agricultural and fishing communities in the Philippines. How else can we effectively distribute products across islands if we do not have strategic roads, seaports, airports, railways and bridges? We really need access to markets and global ideas so that we can benefit from it. Our gateway ports, hubs, and inland transport connections must be able up to meet the demanding tasks ahead.

Quality infrastructure is a key to growth promotion and nation development. It increases the rural region’s access to cities. As less developed communities get access to developed communities’ core economic services, this will lead to rise in more cities. And these cities would serve as engines of growth for the Philippines as a whole. An efficient transportation infrastructure has positive impact on economic growth. It has direct link to economic progress. It enhances trade especially in importation and exportation of all resources that economies of all countries need.

Rich countries like Europe and US have the best infrastructure and it contributes to their rapid economic growth. Their quality roads, railroads, ports, and air transport, enable entrepreneurs and businesses to get their goods and services to market securely and on time. With good mobility, their workers are able to get the most suitable jobs.

I will present Philippines with a developed transportation infrastructure that allows uninterrupted investment and economic activities. It will be a robust transport system that can help adapt to changing environments and able to meet the changing needs of transport users.

A Quality Transportation Infrastructure will be our means to end poverty and the beginning of riches. This maybe a long shot towards Philippines’ economic spur but we can always dream big. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in one day. Prosperity will be within reach given a Quality Transportation Infrastructure via #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014.

Moms extend their loving protection to their kids with NIDO®3+

It is difficult to be a parent today. Child rearing is quite challenging and proves to be more difficult as kids become older. Kids tend to be increasingly curious and explorative.

Outdoor play allows more intereaction with people, animals and other things, exposing them to possible sicknesses. And while children need to feel secure and protected, and it is our job as parents to create a nurturing environment where they can thrive. NIDO®3+ helps by finding a balance.

With NIDO®3+’s protection of Lactobacillus PROTECTUS®, Prebio 3, and other essential nutrients, first-time moms can let their kids be kids. The world of parenting can definitely be magical with NIDO®3+. Enabling kids to explore and experience the world to help them to grow into the best they can possibly be can now be worry-free.
Yesterday, NIDO 3+ held a press event for the 2014 campaign of NIDO 3+ at Chef Jessie in Rockwell Center. New NIDO 3+ brand ambassador Barbie Almalbis-Honasan attended the event to represent the younger generation of moms.

She shared parenting experiences while Dr. Lilian Leynes-Juadiong, child expert and Associate Professor at the Family Life and Child Development Department of the College of Home Economics of UP Diliman, gave expert insights on the different factors first-time moms worry about, including what can help moms in building their child’s body defenses while allowing them to explore the world on their own.

“Mothers are very keen on what they give their kids and they mainly worry about three things during the growing up years. First is if they are getting real value for their money. Second is the acceptability of these purchases, which may be food or drinks, to their kids. Does it appeal to their kid’s palate? Is this something that their kids can appreciate daily? Does it protect them as they explore new things? And, third, is ease of preparation which is something first-time, and often working moms consider,” shared Dr. Juadiong during the media event.

“Given these factors, good and high-quality sources of nourishment and nutrients become mommy’s little helpers to help lessen the things they worry about. Special ingredients such as Lactobacillus PROTECTUS®, a unique combination of live active good microorganisms, play an important role in strengthening your child’s body defenses. With this, first-time moms can have peace of mind while allowing their kids to play and be healthy without adverse effects.”

During the event, the attendees also had an exclusive screening of the refreshed version of the well-loved NIDO 3+ “You’re My Number One” music video. Barbie closely worked with fellow NIDO 3+ brand ambassador Sharon Cuneta who last revived the song back in 2009. “It was an honor to work alongside Sharon and her son, Miguel, for this project. I am equally thrilled that I got to do this with both Stina and Liam who also enjoy NIDO 3+ very much,” said Barbie.

In addition, Nestlé Philippines gave a sneak-peek on the various initiatives of NIDO 3+ for this year, maximizing online platforms to reach and support first-time moms. According to a study on digital behaviour among women, mothers go online to gather relevant information and reach out for opinions. NIDO 3+ responds to this need of first-time moms in a creative way by optimizing social media.

Watch out for is the “You’re My Number One” Sing-Along Tab on the NIDO 3+ Facebook and get to sing along NIDO 3+ song’s fresh new beat with Barbie. Make this activity a regular fostering bond between your child and you.

Other exciting apps include a digital meter which gauges what worries mothers during the kid’s growing up years and a special promotion for moms and their little ones to capture the protection and enjoyment kids experience with NIDO 3+.

Moms can look forward to using the said apps effective February 2014 at www.facebook.com/nidofortified.ph.

Insular Life sparks a Nation of Positivism through “Magandang Araw” Campaign

We may not be able to choose the events in our lives, but we can always choose how we react to them. Insular Life’s 2014 “Magandang Araw” Campaign is around this centerpiece. By accentuating the positive, this campaign intends to spark a nation of positivism by doing a good deed everyday and paying it forward to spread goodness.

Insular Life officially launched its advocacy in a press conference at the Satin Room of SEDA Hotel last January 10. The event started with keynote messages from Mr. Jesus Alfonso Hofilena, EVP Head of Sales and Marketing, and Ms. Amelita F. Tamayo, FVP & Head of Marketing and Agency Support Division.

In a world full of uncertainties, an insurance coverage gives us leverage to continue on enjoying a good quality of life despite the odds. Insular Life sees the work it does as something that enables the organization and its agency force to reach and help out Filipinos secure a better life by planning and investing for the people they truly love. Securing an insurance offers you a hedge against fire, or any disaster that may strike. commercial insurance can be the difference between staying in business or going bankrupt. Others such as health insurance will help you sleep more soundly, knowing that no serious illness can cause you to lose your home. In any unforeseen event or untimely demise, the insured’s beneficiaries will be financially secured to start anew and go on with their lives. An insurance policy can replace lost income and money, help restore destroyed property, provide protection against hospitalization expenses and more.

According to Mr. Jesus Alfonso Hofilena, “Our job puts us at the forefront of a movement that is so essential today, to be a guiding force in enabling people to prepare for life’s uncertainties so that they can look forward to a brighter future for themselves and their loved ones…For Life to be enjoyed, Life has to be endured.”

Insular Life’s first celebrity endorser, Ms Lea Salonga, is the beautiful voice behind “Isang Magandang Araw” song that has been composed to promote the advocacy. The song talks about keeping a hopeful and optimistic view of the future.

Pag gising sa umaga iyong nadarama
May bagong galaw
Ang mundo ngayong araw
May ibang liwanag na sumisinag

May ibang ngiti dyan sa’yong labi
Ang langit napaka-bughaw
Isang magandang araw
Kinabukasan ay aking tanaw

Isang magandang araw
Sulitin ang pagkakataon
Huwag hayaang lumipas
Magandang Araw ngayon

Magandang Buhay bukas
Buksan mo ang pintuan
Kung san ka patungo
Iwanan ang kahapon

Heto na ang panahon
Liksihan ang lakad
Tuklasin na ang landas
May buong mundong

Naghihintay lang sa’yo
Lumiko man ang buhay
San ka man nito dalhin
Wag na wag malilito

Wag mong kalimutan
Ang nais mong marating
Magandang Araw ngayon
Magandang Buhay bukas.

Lea believes in securing her child’s future by investing in insurance. It is an integral part of her financial plans. She shared that though her mother-in-law’s untimely death caught them by surprise, her husband future was well-taken care of by his mom.

Insurance coverages remove the money burdens and guarantee that the family you leave behind will continue to have monetary back up in case of any untoward incident or death. Paradizoo welcomes the year with Festive Bloom of Agriculture

Paradizoo celebrates this International Family Farming year with its “Power of Three" (floral, vegetable and agri-livestock fair) festivities.
Paradizoo is a 10-hectare haven ideal for picnics, educational field trips, outdoor and group outing programs. Located in Mendez, Cavite, Paradizoo is a fascinating paradise with soothing beauty of its flora and fauna. This theme farm has a lot of attractions to offer.

We were privileged to join the event sneak preview last January 11th. All were welcomed by a Dragon Dance coupled with a Fire Dance feat.

Soon after, the animal parade followed.  Spectators and guests were then given enough time for photo opps.

Join in Paradizoo as it holds the different festivals for the succeeding weeks to come.  You will certainly enjoy your understanding towards agriculture as you learn the Best Practices in agriculture. Go see the farm produce exhibits, sale and auction of livestocks (imported breeds of goats for milk and meat, sheep, several pig breeds animal feed, and a lot more). There will be briefings, discussions on breeding programs and free seminar on flower, vegetable and livestock care.
Be mesmerized with the variety of breathtaking floral designs, formal hedges and topiary during Flower Festival starting Jan 18 up to Jan 25. Witness a stunning haven of farm and garden everyone would wish to experience. Additional attention-catching topics to look forward are The Knowledge of Bonsai, Biotechnology Products, Health, Fitness and Wellness, Vermi Composting Technology, Pineapple Jam Making and Aquavermiponics, a modern gardening technology.
Get a chance to interact with animals and know the basics of farming from Feb 1 to Feb 8 in Veggie Festival and Feb 15 to Feb 22 in Livestock Festival. And once you get to know how to milk a goat, ride the horse, and witness a chicken lay an egg, or plant a coffee, cabbage or flower you can opt to buy the farm produce product. Then, learn the right way from farm selection to breeding of goats and sheeps on Feb 15. Lastly, be trained how to practice food safety on Feb 22.
The culminating event on March 2 will include an amazing Horse Parade, a gala for this year of the horse. Different breeds of horses from thorough breed to miniature horses will be put on display as they parade together with their colorful and magnificent carts.

This would be one fruitful experience you surely wouldn’t want to miss.  For those interested, you can visit www.zoomanity.com.ph for details or call them at telephone numbers 8999828 or 08.
