Cebu’s popular restaurant Hukad sa Golden Cowrie finally opened its pilot chain in Quezon City. They invited the media last June 28, 2016 media to try out their delicious food offerings.
Hukad sa Golden Cowrie has its origins in Lahug, Cebu. Its first outlet opened in 1982 and soon after, the brand Hukad was developed in 2008 as a handle for the mall-based branches of Golden Cowrie Grill. Today, it offers festive Filipino dishes from various Philippine regions in its 24 locations across the country. Eight of the 24 locations are company-owned, while the remaining 16 are franchised. Hukad exudes a homey atmosphere created by interior designer Hannah Lim of HL Designs. Its ceiling mirrors tree branches that playfully resembles a jigsaw puzzle. Suspended from it are iconic puso-shaped lamps inspired by woven coconut leaves casings typically used Opeerving rice in Cebu. The coco shells, crushed bamboo, and laminate details seen all around the restaurant showcase Cebuano craftsmanship and ingenuity.
The Cebu-grown brand promises to provide a real feast experience for Manila crowd. Hukad’s menu of modern Filipino cuisine lists more than a hundred dishes including its best-selling Pork Belly Lechon Cebu plus its equally-famous Crispy Pata, which won People’s Choice for Best Crispy Pata in a recent Sunstar Cebu newspaper survey.
The Pork Belly Lechon was really delicious. It has a thin crunchy skin that cracks easily as you bite into it. The well-seasoned meat is moist and savoury that you can do away with the sauce and enjoy it as is! The golden brown Crispy Pata really is something to rave about! Biting into meat cracklings was heavenly!
Other big hits are Pork Sisig, Lechon Kawali, Pomelo Salad, Grilled Pork Belly, Balut Sisig, Pancit Guisado, and Calamares.
Also popular are the Ngohiong, Bantayan Baked Scallops, Seafood Pancit Habhab, Grilled Tuna Belly, Baby Prawns Sinigang, Escabecheng Tanigue and Sizzling Bangus.
Hukad has everyone covered with its interesting line of vegetarian dishes that features Bloodless Dinuguan made with tofu, Vegetarian Sisig and Adobong Talong.
Hukad sa Golden Cowrie Trinoma is currently running its “Sulit Meals at 149” promotion, from 2PM to 5PM daily. You might want to check out their Feast Bundles as well, starting at P1,399. These pre-set menus are good to share for a group of 4-5 persons.
