Safeguard, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, and DepEd, spearheaded the Global Handwashing Day 2022 Virtual Celebration earlier today.
"Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene!" is the battle-cry slogan that highlights this year's theme “health care quality and safety climate or culture” that values hand hygiene. October 15 marks the 10th year of celebrating Global Handwashing Day in the Philippines. It underscores the importance of handwashing with soap through a simple message: Clean hands save lives.
Proper Handwashing removes dirt, helps in warding off sickness, and helps prevent spread of germs to others as well. Keeping a good hand hygiene is the first line of defense against the spread of flu, diarrhea and most illnesses.
Follow these right steps for squeaky-clean hands every time:
1) Wet your hands with running water, turn off the tap, and apply Safeguard. Work the soap into the palm of your hands until a nice thick lather starts to form.
2) Lather the back of your hands. Work up the lengths of your fingers all the way to the tip, between your fingers, thumbs and under your nails.
3) Scrub your hands for at least 30 seconds to effectively wash away any germs and bacteria.
4) Rinse hands under clean, running water.
5) Dry your hands using a clean cloth or paper towel.
Make handwashing a regular family activity at home before eating, before handling food, after using the toilet, and after playtime.
Safeguard Philippines has donated products and turned over 285 handwashing facilities to schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Rizal. Its
#SafeWASH project supports the WASH in Schools (WinS) program of DepEd and the BIDA Kid campaign of DOH. The said program aims to further strengthen health and safety protocols in schools for the ongoing expansion of in-person classes and help build a safer nation.
