LPU-Laguna is the overall winner of Goldilocks ICDC 2018

Goldilocks held its 12th leg of the ICDC last March 3, 2018 at the SM Megamall.

Six teams out of one hundred entries sent in by aspiring school from all over the country passed the closed-door qualifying rounds and made it to the finals.

There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the midday that officially opened the ceremonies led by Ms. Cherry Caluya, Ms. Cherry Go-Yuzon, and Mr. Patrick Tong.

A program commenced shortly after the parade of Lyceum of the Philippines, University of Batangas, Saint Anne College of Lucena, Pangasinan State University, Western Institute of Technology Iloilo, and the Holy Cross of Davao College. The finalists were then given time to shop for their decorating needs to be named the overall champion of the Goldilocks ICDC 2018.

The on-the-spot cake creations contest featured this year’s theme “ Timeless—Design your Memories, Color your Dreams”.

According to Goldilocks Marketing Director Cherry Caluya, “Cake is timeless as it is meant to to celebrate sweet moments and special memories. With this inspiring theme that will surely be interpreted in many amazing ways, we are looking forward to seeing cake designs that will evoke memories of the past, give meaning to the present, and some that will gaze into the future.”

Each team worked and decorates their cakes in 5 hours under the watchful eyes of the judges and the cheering audiences. For the first challenge, finalists are tasked to create a cake inspired by a childhood moment. They were asked to create a school tribute cake for the 2nd challenge afterwards. And with remaining 2 hours in the competition, the Finalists were then tasked to create a Philippine Cake of the Future for the final challenge.

There were fun games and activities like the Cake Decorating Workshop, a DYC (Decorate Your Cake) area for children, Goldilocks Premium Decorated Cakes on Display, plus the Avoset Co-Presenter Booth to entertain guests, just like in the previous ICDC events.

And at the end, Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna was hailed as the grand champion bagging two of the three categories (Tribute to the Present and Tribute to the Future). Western Institute of Technology-Iloilo won the first category, Tribute to the Past.

The winning team  members each took home Goldilocks gift certificates plus a Baking Showcase for their school and the honor of being in the roster of best amateur cake decorators in the country.  "Apart from a strong sense of school pride, winning the ICDC is a testament to hard work and diligence. In a manner of speaking, the trophy is simply the icing on top of the cake," according to Caluya.
