Royalty Treatment at Al Amara like no other

Al Amara dons a Moorish architecture that relaxes you with its ambiance. The treatment rooms are elegant and well-designed, a tranquil haven set up perfect for a Hammam experience.

Al Amara offers the Hammam experience, the only of its kind in the Philippines. There is no better way to destress and detox than the Hammam. The Al Amara sauna and spa experience is so good that it quickly gained popularity from the time it opened October last year.

A Hammam refers to a steam room, where Moroccans go to each week and spend hours to cleanse their bodies until their skin glows. Hammam means “spreader of warmth.” This bathing retreat brings the whole body to a state of balance and well-being.

I went there to try out the Moroccan Body Scrub (P 699), a relaxing full-body scrub that is a deal too good to pass up on. The luxurious scrub is administered by an accommodating and friendly spa attendant to slough off dead skin cells.

My scrub-down experience started with Lava Clay application on the face. Moroccan Lava clay has been used for hundreds of years as a natural beautifier because of its wonderful anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties.

Next, black soap was applied all over my body to prepare the skin for scrubbing. In the traditional hammam, black soap application is a ritual. The soap is known for its gentle exfoliation.

Next was a 15-minute sauna treatment to moisten the skin. There is nothing like a long steam luxury at Al Amara. Relaxing in the heat of the chamber with 15 minutes of steam allows the lava clay to work its magic on face and black soap on the rest of my body.

Finally, I showered away and went on to the next room to get scrubbed down by the Hammam attendant.

She made use of the Marrakesh hammam gloves to scrub my skin as I lay down on the cushioned stonebed. The black exfoliating mitt really helped stripped away all the dead skin layers on my skin. I can feel my old dry skin peel off as the attendant vigorously exfoliates my body. In between the rubdown, she douses me with water from a showerhead.

After my energizing Hamman, I decided to complete my experience with a luxurious nail care pampering treat.

Do check out the other beauty treatments like the macadamia oil cream color and hair oil treatment that Al Amara offers.

The Al Amara staff were very good at making my daughter at feel at ease and orchestrating things for her while I went into my total relaxation experience.

The Moroccan Body Scrub is quite something. Be prepared for an abrasive slough off of your dead skin cells. You’ll definitely feel like a new person afterwards.

Special thanks to Ms Joy Lirio for these fond moments at Al Amara.
