Celebrate Healthy Lifestyle Choices at Robinsons Supermarket's Wellness Festival

Robinsons Supermarket has always been true to its commitment to wellness by helping more Filipinos start their journey to health and fitness. And now on its third year, Robinsons Supermarket kicks off the National Wellness month this July with its Wellness Festival campaign that runs from June 23 to 25, 2017.



The event was hosted by TV personality Robi Domingo. The Eastwood Central Plaza  park was transformed into a mini city where guests can try the Bicycle Tour or Pedestrian Rush where participants need to accomplish certain actions when crossing the street.

Customers also got a chance to try the course set up by the Ninja Academy. Admission to the activity is free and guests were treated to other fun activities by Robinsons Supermarket’s wellness partners participating health and wellness brands like Listerine, Nestle, Johnson and Johnson, Tipco, etc. Both kids and adults, enjoyed the games, freebies and exciting installations around the park.

Fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret led guests and shoppers in a series of four-minute workouts (Metabeats), in an effort to show that it only takes a few minutes to get started on one’s road to wellness. They also presented an opportunity for Robinsons Supermarket to pledge pounds to the Fit Filipino 1 Million Pounds National Weight Loss Challenge.  Robinsons Supermarket identified select branches as the challenge’s weigh-in centers every Saturday.







Aside from these activities, sboppers can get a Healthy You Snack Platter for a minimum single-receipt purchase of P 3,000 inclusive of P 500 worth of participating products from Nestle, Johnson and Johnson, Unilab, Fonterra, Wyeth Nutrition, Unilever, Procter and Gamble, IPI, Abbott Nutrition, Getz Bros., Ecossential, Foodsphete, and Philusa.  Customers will also get an extra 15 Robinsons Rewards Card points for every P 500 purchase of Healthy You products. SM Home brings in top creative talents to inspire home owners

How items blend together and contribute to the aesthetics or the function of a space are just as important, if not more,” continues Tom “That is why this year, we’d like to help our customers get their creative juices flowing by exposing them to a lot of great design, and sharing practical design tips with them.” Done in the fashionable Scandi-chic style, and almost exclusively with items available at SM Home, the vignettes are an eye-opening showcase of what is possible to do with even the simplest and most inexpensive items in the store, when one adds the elements of cohesion, balance, function, and a bit of creative flare. For the vignettes, the designers were asked to design for a power couple between the ages of 28-34, who love travel, and photography, and who lead very active lives.

The dining room is done in the crisp, clean, deceptively spartan lines typical of Scandi-chic, a well thought out use of color and contrast creates a warm and cozy feel. Designed by Nina Santamaria of Grupo Santamaria, the dining room is a perfect example of seemingly plain looking items coming together to create a beautiful, functional and inviting space.

Leaning towards the edgy side of modern, the living room vignette of Misty Floro and Pai Edles of Morfosis plays with unconventional furniture layouts, and uses accents such as an area rug to define space. “The objective is to highlight the versatility of the living room and the countless possibilities a living room presents for a designer,” shares Misty Floro. An interesting highlight of the space is the accent wall, which serves as an optical illusion that presents a different view from every angle.

Iriss Mangio of ILM Interiors designed the home office space in a style that was quite eclectic, combining bohemian elements, with retro-objects, while managing to make the space look both cohesive and new. Iriss’ vision of a couple’s home office is a functional room that doubles as a relaxing space to just hang out in. These seemingly contrasting ideas are achieved with the well thought out positioning of large functional pieces, and strategic arrangement of plants and accessories.

Angelo Siochi’s vignette of the couples’ bedroom is intimate, relaxing and a great canvas for adding personal touches. Colors and accents, and décor combine for a room that is conducive to relaxation, but Angelo has provided ample space on shelves, walls and tables for the couple to add their personal touches. “A designer’s job in designing a bedroom in not just to make a beautiful space, but to allow clients to personalize,” explains Angelo.

In a departure from typical showhouses, the kitchen space was styled by renowned pastry chef Miko Aspiras, in partnership with a local designer who helped bring his vision to life. “It may not be so with other rooms, but in a kitchen form needs to follow function all the time, a beautiful space is worthless unless it performs its function well. This is more true of a kitchen than any other space in a home,” explains Tom, “To create a great working kitchen requires extensive knowledge of how food is prepared, as well as experience in working in kitchens. Pastries are particularly process intensive and precise, so Chef Miko really stood out as a logical choice,” he adds.

The designers were on hand for the grand launch of the vignettes, discussing their vision for the spaces, sharing their favorite items from SM Home, and sharing some very useful tips with the exhibit’s first guests.

The vignettes are open for viewing at the SM Home Makati branch until July 31.

WWF commemorates World Ocean Day with Rule of Two-Thirds Underwater Photo Exhibit at Solaire




Oceans are the largest ecosystems on Earth. This makes marine life an important part of sustaining human life as it accounts for more than 70 % of Earth's surface.

Sadly, because of the negative human impact, these marine ecosystems are increasingly degraded and in urgent need of conservation.


In celebration of World Ocean Day, WWF Philippines teams up with pro-ocean conservation advocates to highlight the  importance of marine ecosystems. It aims to educate the public on marine conservation by way of a photo exhibit. Captivating photos of multi-awarded photographers Anna Varona and Danny Ocampo were unveiled at Solaire on June 8, 2017 to highlight the beauty of the Philippine ocean and the urgent need to protect them.

The exhibit showcases a visual spectacle on the beauty of Marine Protected Areas such as Marine Sanctuary in Tingly, Batangas, Apo Island in Negros Oriental, Cagayancillo and Tubbataha in Palawan, and Tanon Strait in the Visayas.

Anna Varona, who is a responsible tourism advocate and a marine warrior , believes that this endeavor is very much aligned with the 2017 World Ocean Day’s theme “Our Ocean, Our Future” because it aims to spread awareness on the role of MPA’s in long-term food security. “MPA’s ensure that our coastal resources are given the chance to regenerate and provide us food now and in the future. Aside from that, our fishermen are given much more stable and sustainable livelihood,”she said.

Danny Ocampo has been a protector of the seas. He serves as an inspiration to the younger heroes in training. Together with Anna Varona, he campaigns for ethical and responsible diving and photography, and hopes to influence tourist to be more responsible when they visit MPA’s, especially since Apo Island has been instrumental in his journey towards marine conversation work. “Apo Island continues to inspire not only me but hundreds if individuals, organizations and policy makers here and abroad who have been there. Sadly, its popularity is beginning to be its bane and measures have to be taken to ensure that tourism and conversation compliment eac other,” he added.

Canon Philippines sponsored the printing of all portraits including the postcard version of select photos that will be sold to help fund the WorldWide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines conservation efforts and public education drive on conservation of Philippine ocean. By sharing the wonders of the ocean and marine life, local communities that greatly depended on them will be inspired to protect it.

WWF-Philippine’s work in protecting the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park inspured the declaration of a one million hhectareof MPA by the Municipal Government of Cagayancillo though a municipal ordinance covering its entire municipal waters and surrounding open sea.

KTM Philippines inaugurates new Motorcycle Faclity

KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing Philippines, Inc. (KAMMI) inaugurated their state-of-the-art  assembly plant inside Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc., another Ayala Corp. subsidiary, located at Building I, North Science Avenue, Laguna Technopark  in  Laguna earlier today.

The motorcycle plant is  a joint-venture partnership between Adventure Cycle Philippines, Inc.–owned by AC Industrial Technology Holdings, Inc. (AC Industrials), a member of Ayala Group of Companies–and Austrian motorcycle giant KTM AG (Kronreif and Trunkenpolz Mattighofen AG). KTM AG is the biggest European motorcycle manufacturer  owned by CROSS Industries AG and India-based Bajaj Auto Limited.


It will assemble four KTM models such as the KTM 200 DUKE, KTM 390 DUKE, KTM RC 200, and KTM RC 390, and will have an initial production run of 6,000 motorcycles domestic market , with the goal of eventually expanding to 10,000 units annually. 

With the worldwide  competition in the  small and medium displacement sportsbike segments heating up, KAMMI plans to make its presence felt by   exporting motorcycles to neighboring ASEAN countries especially in China.

The world-class plant showcases  combined flexible production processes and lean manufacturing principles to successfully launch its aggressive lineup of KTM new gen  of heavyweight cruising and touring bikes.

KTM introduced  new technological trends that gain ground.  Its next-generation motorcycles range from turbo-charged commuters to overpowered race specials and from electronic safety equipment to smartphone integration.

The KTM motorcycle technology had something for every taste. The 2017 KTM 390 Duke start with a six-LED headlight, a revised trellis  frame painted in contrasting orange and white,   and an all-new bolt-on sub-frame.

Taiwan Excellence marks its 4th year of trade relations with the Philippines



Taiwan reaffirms the strength of its trade relations with the Philippines, in its fourth annual Taiwan Excellence campaign.



The 2017 Taiwan Excellence campaign roll out at Fairmont Hotel in Makati this morning was attended by Ambassador Benedicto Yujuico (Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Chairman), Mr. Gilberto Lauengco (Manila Economic and Cultural Office - Chief Finance Officer),  Mr.  James Chu (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Minister), Mr.  Tony Lin ((Strategic Marketing Department Deputy Director of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council), including Directors and Board Members from Taiwan.



Organized by Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of Taiwan government and implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the latest Taiwan Excellence campaign in the Philippines helps bring the best 150 Taiwanese products from 52 brands to the Filipino households.

These top quality products have earned Taiwan's symbol of product superiority after scoring high on four criteria: design, quality, marketing plus research and development. Only Taiwan’s top leading brands earn the right to use the Taiwan Excellence seal.

TAITRA has expanded their events to further highlight the innovation, reliability, and durability of these brands, which continue to empower consumers toward leading more convenient and enhanced lifestyles.


The exhibition promises to bring a new layer of fun for visitors, offering something for everyone. Renowned basketball league NBA forges partnership with insurance provider AXA



The National Basketball Association (NBA Philippines) draws up a new gameplan for financial planning as it engages AXA.

AXA, NBA Philippines' newly-appointed coach is expected to help grow the game in the country. It intends to impart financial literacy by way of the country’s most beloved sport.



AXA Philippines President, and CEO, Rahul Hora opens the event by sharing what the AXA-NBA Partnership is about.  “We want to use the medium of basketball to drive home two messages – the importance of financial planning and the critical role of coaching in developing a financial gameplan.”


 There is an inherent risk involved in any athletic endeavor and AXA Philippines provides premium and league coverage for NBA youth basketball participants embarking on on an overseas NBA experience trip later this year as part of the multiyear partnership.  AXA Philippines  is set to back up   NBA’s grassroots programs in the country such as Jr. NBA and NBA 3X.


 “This is a partnership to not only grow the game, but also to promote values that will resonate with Filipinos,” NBA Philippines managing director Carlo Singson said.


The announcement making  AXA the official insurance partner of the league in the Philippines, was done in a presscon at Hard Rock Cafe Glorietta with the special participation of 2013 NBA All-Star Brook Lopez.   

The Brooklyn Nets’ all-time scoring leader, shared how his  insurance coverage provided the safety net he needs for protection.
