Last June 4th, Yahoo Philippines announced the launch of the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 and unveiled the nominees for this year.
Formerly known as OMG! Awards, Yahoo Celebrity Awards honors Philippines’ movie, music, radio and television celebrities, who are voted into the top ranks by their fans from across the world. It is the most popular awards program in the country as it is uniquely “Powered by You”, as fans have the exclusive power to vote their favorite stars in.
This year’s Celebrity Awards includes ten exciting new additions to the existing classic categories: Celebrity Couple, Celebrity Family, Male and Female Hothletes, Band of the Year, Male and Female ‘Kontrabida’, Emerging Band, Song of the Year and Social Media Star.
Marian Rivera, 2014 Media Magnet and Celebrity of the Year nominee, graced the launch at Amber in Bonifacio Global City along with the other nominees like Janella Salvador (Female Emerging Star nominee), Christian Bautista (Male Performer of the Year nominee), Rocco Nacino (Male Emerging Star nominee), Ritz Azul, Klarisse de Guzman, Kaye Abad, Cager Jeron Teng (Male Hothlete) and Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago plus Celebrity Couple nominees, Bea Binene and Jake Vargas. Sam Oh (Female DJ nominee ) hosted the event. Other nominated DJs in the likes of DJ Megan, Mr. Fu, and Nicole Hyala were spotted at the event as well.
‘Yahoo-On-the-Road’ bus makes the Yahoo Celebrity Awards even more special as it goes on tour at various schools in Manila showcasing nominees of the Band of the Year and Emerging Band categories. It engages university-based fans to cast votes for their idols, request performances, meet and jam with up-and-coming Pinoy bands who join the tour. The ‘Yahoo-On-the-Road’ bus is set to introduce its apps like Yahoo Mail, Flickr, Tumblr, WeatherApp and News Digest to the younger audience as well.
